    Craig Primmer, vice-dean for research

Vice-Dean Primmer is in charge of the Faculty’s research affairs, international engagement, the development of doctoral education, as well as research infrastructures.

“I am very excited to get started in my new role as vice-dean for research in 2022. It is both a challenge and an opportunity to continue the great work of the previous vice-dean, and to start some new initiatives. It is a challenging time to be commencing, but I strongly believe that we are in a good position to not only remain as the top place for biological and environmental research in Finland, but also to be among the best in Europe and the world. Unlike many other universities, we have filled many new positions at the Faculty during the pandemic.

I am excited to learn from both the new and longer-term Faculty members so we can grow together. In terms of new initiatives, after the successful establishment of three research programmes in 2018, I think now is a good time to be strengthening research interactions between the research programmes. I am also keen to utilise the vast experience and expertise we have in the Faculty to provide researchers with peer feedback and support for preparing research grant applications."
