About Maria Brockhaus
International Forest Policy Most of today’s environmental policy problems such as deforestation and the existing inequalities in rights and benefits from natural resources are deeply rooted in historical processes and patterns of global trade and investment within and beyond the forestry sector. Domestic and international agreements, policies and decisions affecting forests and people all over the world, and vice versa. My aim is to provide critical analysis to better understand politics and power in highly contested domestic and international policy arenas, often beyond the forestry sector as such.

About Eliisa Kylkilahti
I am a consumer researcher whose underlying goal is to improve consumer wellbeing in balance with environmental and economic constraints. My key research topics include consumer-driven business development (incl. service design), the appropriation processes of sustainability-driven innovations (esp. in the context of housing), sustainable bioeconomy transition in consumers’ everyday life, and commercial enculturation of young people. My research focus has shifted from consumer agency in the service society, to the consumer role in social, cultural, material and managerial changes in the context of sustainable everyday life and post-fossil economy. Currently, I contribute in research projects DeCarbon-Home, ConPaSS and BioColour that all are concerned with the topic of consumer experiences and the appropriation processes of sustainable materials innovations and climate-wise living. In these projects, we employ engaging, participatory methods in order to develop consumer-driven approaches to address consumer needs in the areas of housing and packaging. Teaching 2022-2023 YET-105 Consumers, Services and Innovations EKM-116 Special Issues in Consumer Studies YET-016 Consumption, Food and Environment YET-020 Bachelor seminar (spring)

About Akonwi Ayonghe
My research within the project GreenPole pursues interdisciplinary assessments of forest policy outcomes (climate, biodiversity, and wider societal impacts). GreenPole is led by Lund University, in consortium with Aarhus University and the University of Helsinki. The Post-doc task adds anthropological insights to evaluating Nordic Forest Policies: past, present, and future implications. It does so with a focus on the indigenous land use perspective - both from the stance of policy interventions in the past decades, and a comparative analysis between forest policies in Finland, Sweden, Norway, and Denmark. Other areas of sharing interest include: Co-management systems for the sustenance of natural resources; People-nature relations in the context of National Parks and other forms of protected areas; Anthropological inquiry and Qualitative methods in the Social Sciences; Use of Interdisciplinary theories on Power, Knowledge-integration, Agency, Socio-ecology, and Cultural Resilience.

About Allan De Souza
As a post-doctoral researcher at the University of Helsinki, my primary focus is on the BioDT and eLTER projects, where I am contributing in data-related issues. My work involves collaborating with project teams to develop strategies for data formats, standards, and storage options, ensuring that all project data is findable, reliable, accessible, and usable. My specific area of responsibility involves the integration, curation, and standardization of long-term forestry data collected from the Hyytiälä monitoring station. I work closely with other researchers and project leaders to ensure that the data is properly standardized and prepared for easy and fast loading and integration to data analysis.

About Anne Viljanen
As part of the CHOICES project I am researching longlived wood products and business models. But I'm also interested in the business opportunities and risks of longlived wood products and also nature-value markets for the futures. In my research I'm interested in circular economy and low carbon solutions linked with buildings, urban nature-based solutions and adopting to environmental crises. I often view these through actor ecosystems, systemic innovations or by building pathways towards sustainability transition.
