Faculty-specific instructions concerning the exceptional circumstances due to the coronavirus outbreak at the University of Helsinki

Use of University premises

The telecommuting recommendation ended on 28 February 2022. In March, a transition will be made to the practices of multi-location work (hybrid work) established last autumn.

All attendance restrictions pertaining to contact instruction and on-site examinations will be lifted as of 14 March 2022, the beginning of the fourth teaching period.

The national criteria for voluntary quarantine have changed. According to them, asymptomatic exposed individuals can visit the University if it is impossible to work or study remotely. If you get a positive result from a home test or have symptoms, you cannot visit the University. Appropriate rules concerning hygiene and personal safe distances to others must be followed when working in all faculty premises. Protective face masks are to be worn on all premises when not alone. Face masks must be worn in teaching and learning situations. There are masks available for people working in faculty premises.

Instructions for organizing teaching  

Teaching starting 14.3.

Protective face masks must be worn in teaching occasions. Teachers are responsible for distributing masks to all students, teachers and eventual visitors in the contact teaching or supervising events. Teachers need to get the masks from their department contact person and make sure that they are distributed to students before a teaching situation begins.

If a student in contact teaching has contracted coronavirus

Teacher should contact the faculty’s head of academic affairs Maika Strömberg for instructions on necessary measures. Further information for teaching staff is available on the Instructions for Teaching website.

Doctoral defence events

At the faculty, all doctoral defence events must be held as remote events until the end of March 2022. Only people that have been precised in the University doctoral defence instructions are allowed to be present at the events.
