The Conference takes place at the University of Helsinki City Centre Campus in the Language Centre's Festive Hall (Fabianinkatu 26, 3rd floor). The parallel sessions are held in the same building (room 406, 4th floor). In the back of the Festive Hall there are coat racks and space for luggage.
The reception takes place on Thursday, October 24 at 17:30-19:00 at the Main Building of the University of Helsinki (Agora, Fabianinkatu 33, 1st floor). The reception is hosted by Timo Kaartinen, vice dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences. Light vegan food and wine are served at the reception.
Lunch is not sponsored by the organizing committee, but you will find many shops and restaurants nearby the conference venue. Here’ some recommendations:
Unicafe Porthania (Yliopistonkatu 3), Budget friendly buffet
Unicafe Kaisa-talo (Vuorikatu 7), Soup and salad
Think Corner Cafe (Yliopistonkatu 4), Vegan soup and salad
Restaurant Sofia (Aleksanterinkatu 28), Two lunch alternatives daily, one of which is vegan
Kluuvi (Aleksanterinkatu 9), Many restaurants and cafes to choose from
Coffee will be served outside the Language Centre's Festive hall (Fabianinkatu 26, 3rd floor) on both days (Thursday at 15:00 and Friday at 15:30).
Helsinki has excellent public transport. From Helsinki airport you can take the I or P train directly to Helsinki Central Station (the journey takes approximately 30 minutes). You need to buy tickets in advance before you get on a train. There is a ticket stand on the railway platform at the airport, or you can download the HSL app. From the airport to the city center you will need a ticket that covers zones A, B, and C. Currently, the train ticket for these three zones costs 4,10 €.
If you prefer to get a taxi from the airport, you simply follow the signs to the taxi stand, but this is significantly more expensive: a taxi journey from the airport to central Helsinki is approximately 35-50 €.
