Visiting Fellows Seminars continue

How does the Kremlin use history to justify Russia’s large-scale invasion of Ukraine ? How has internal displacement influenced Ukraine and its policies? How do Russian environmentalists continue their activism under increasingly authoritarian governance?

The first three Aleksanteri Institute Visiting Fellows seminars of 2024 address acutely topical themes. We welcome academics, students, and other interested parties to participate in the open lectures by Associate Professor Sergii Pakhomenko from Mariupol State University, Professor Laura A. Henry from Bowdoin College and Dr. Emily Channell-Justice, Director of Temerty Contemporary Ukraine Program at Harvard University.

Join online or at the venue in Metsätalo (Unioninkatu 40, for max 25 participants). No preregistration required.

Also, on 26 March, our former Visiting Fellow Dr. Olga Shevchenko will present her book on Soviet-era family photography at the next Alumni Talk together with her co-author Dr. Oksana Sarkisova. We welcome you to hear about "In Visible Presence: Soviet Afterlives in Family Photos" (MIT, 2023) via Zoom. No preregistration required.
