The Aleksanteri Institute Library collection of research literature on Russian and Eastern European Studies is moving to the second floor of the Helsinki University Main Library, also known as the Kaisa House. The collection provides literature particularly in the field of social sciences and humanities. It has previously been available mainly for research purposes to the Aleksanteri Institute staff and students. The collection will now be open to all users of the Helsinki University Library, both for on-site reading in the Kaisa House reading areas and for 28-day home loans. Books can be reserved, and loans renewed digitally in your personal Helka database, just like the other books in the University Library.
The majority of the books from the Aleksanteri Institute collection will be kept in a single collection on the second floor of the Kaisa House. Some of the course books that are already available in the Main Library will be placed together and for example fiction will be placed with the other fiction books. Everyone who has currently books in loan from the Aleksanteri Institute Library will be personally informed about the move and its schedule. If your due date falls between 19 and 30 June, the loan period will be automatically extended till July. During the period that the collection will be out of use, loaned books can be returned either directly to the Kaisa House customer service or to the Alexander Institute's Information Officer.
