These instructions are applicable to you if you have been offered a study place in 2020 by the University of Helsinki in a degree programme leading either to a Bachelor’s or a Master’s degree, or both.
Accepting or rejecting the offered study place
Firstly, you need to decide if you want to accept the offered study place or not.
If you have applied to several degree programmes, please ensure that you are aware of the one study place per term provision. According to this provision, a student may accept only one study place leading to a higher education degree in Finland in education that begins in the same academic term. Read more about the one study place per term provision at Studyinfo.
If you are, or have been, a degree student at the University of Helsinki, please check any special provisions that may apply to you when you accept the offered study place.
Informing the university about your decision
Secondly, when you have decided whether or not you want to accept the offered study place, inform the university as soon as possible about your decision by confirming or rejecting the offer. It is important to inform us even if you have decided to reject your study place, because then the university can offer the study place to another applicant.
If you have a Finnish personal identity code, you can confirm or reject your study place using My Studyinfo Service at studyinfo.fi. In order to log in, you must have Finnish online banking credentials, mobile certificate or Finnish electronic ID card. (If you do not have any of these, please contact Admission Services immediately.)
If you do not have a Finnish personal identity code, My Studyinfo Service will automatically send you an email message with a link. Use this link to confirm or reject the offered study place. The email with the link will be sent to you within 24 hours after the results of the student selection have been published.
Please note that confirming a study place is a binding choice. You cannot cancel or change your choice later.
You will lose the offered study place if you do not confirm it before the given deadline. The given deadline can be found in the e-mail message with the subject line "University of Helsinki offers you a study place" from the Admission Services of the University of Helsinki.
If you have any further questions on confirming or rejecting the offered study place, please contact the Admission Services at the University of Helsinki.
