University of Helsinki celebrates new professors twice a year towards the end of term. By tradition Inauguration is always a Wednesday, either the last in May or the first in December.
Professors of Practice
A holder of a doctoral degree with professional merits and experience of particular significance from outside the academic world that can benefit the University may be invited to the position of professor of practice.
The title of docent is an academic title conferred in recognition of achievements in scientific research and teaching.
In the future, education will be open to all, communal and centred on students. At the University of Helsinki, the future of education is already becoming a reality.
