Investments in the future
The University of Helsinki aims to rank among the 50 leading universities in the world. Reaching this goal also needs significant investment from society. Donations to the University should be seen as investments in the future of Finland. Donations to the University’s Future Fund support the University’s position among the world’s best multidisciplinary research universities. The Future Fund’s assets will be used to carry out projects that are important to the future and to meeting the objectives of the University’s strategic plan.
Responsible asset management ensures long-term support
The University of Helsinki invests donated funds centrally and receives an annual return of 5% on the capital. The University decides how to use the donations. As for the Government’s basic capital investments made on the basis of donations, the University may only use the return on the investments.
