Dive into the exciting world of sustainability
The sustainability online course is structured to help you get familiar with a number of different topics and simple assignments. At the end, it is possible to earn an open badge certificate. The The course begins with an introduction to sustainability, providing a solid foundation for understanding the key concepts. It then delves into environmental sustainability, exploring the impact of human activities on the environment and ways to mitigate these effects. Mira Valkjärvi, one of the course instructors, explains, "This Sustainability module covers a wide range of topics, including sustainable development, circular economy and practical tips for entrepreneurs to build sustainable businesses. Our goal is to equip participants with the knowledge and skills needed to make a positive impact on the environment."
Janne Salovaara, a member of the course development team, adds: "We have designed the module to be indepth and reflective. Participants will have access to webinars, discussion forums, and approachable assignments that will enhance their learning experience and help them contextualise sustainability to their needs."
The course also covers sociocultural sustainability, examining the social and cultural dimensions of sustainable development. Additionally, participants will learn about the circular economy and the economics of sustainability, focusing on sustainable business practices and economic models. Finally, the course concludes with sustainability in practice, where participants will apply the knowledge gained to real-world scenarios.
Participants can go through the materials, explore different sections, topics, and sub-chapters, and complete the assignments at their own pace. They will find relevant information, recent updates, chat functionality with other participants and trainers, and access module webinars in the DigiCampus platform, which hosts the course. The course is free and open to everyone until the end of 2026. GENGREEN`s project manager Silvia Gaiani states;
Entrepreneurship is all about finding new and innovative ways to create value and grow a business. Creating a sustainable future is just as important as creating a profitable one, thus sustainability is central to new businesses. GENGREEN sustainability module is a unique and free resource that will give everyone—and not only entrepreneurs—the insights needed to be a responsible, conscious, green and impactful actor of change.
