Academy of Finland Funding for Cryo-EM Method Development

Structures of Endogenous Macromolecular Assemblies (SEMMA) Consortium has been funded 1 million euros by the Academy of Finland.

The SEMMA Consortium combines the expertise of reseach teams lead by Juha Huiskonen (Laboratory of Structural Biology, HiLIFE), Ville Paavilainen (Institute of Biotechnolgy) and Mauri Kostiainen (Aalto University). SEMMA aims is to develop novel sample capture substrates for structural biology and especially cryogenic electron microscopy (cryo-EM). The four-year project is currently in planning and recruitment phase and will fully launch in September 2018.
