The role of biodiversity in disease regulation

Maximizing the gains—and limiting the pains—of ecosystem restoration and biodiversity recovery

The unifying theme of our lab's flagship projects and collaborations is how to tap into nature restoration and biodiversity recovery strategies as major tools for pandemic and epidemic prevention. By coupling pathogen screening in wildlife, humans and domestic animals with biodiversity metrics and social-science surveys, these initiatives aim to translate mechanisms of host-pathogen interactions under a context of global change into actionable guidance for agencies and NGOs.
