Speaker's bio: 

Solwati/PhD Sibongile L. Masuku

Chairperson of Culture to the National Commission for UNESCO

Sibongile, PhD from Rhodes University, is a senior lecturer in Culture and Heritage Studies at the University of Mpumalanga in South Africa. Her research work intersects, culture, the natural environment and education with a particular focus on indigenous knowledges and decolonisation. Her teaching interests are in cultural policy, the cultural and creative industries, indigenous knowledges and development. Sibongile is interested in exploring the impact and (im)potential of artificial intelligence in/for advancing the growing understanding of indigenous knowledges in education. She is currently an African Union working group member for the Art Education Policy for Africa.
