Professor Kristiina Kumpulainen and Docent Anu Kajamaa received a two year NOS-HS grant from the Joint Committee for Nordic Research Councils in the Humanities and Social Sciences. Their NOS-HS funded project entitled “Nordic Research Network on Digitalising Childhoods (DigiChild)” includes leading Nordic scholars from the field. The project aims at exchanging and disseminating the latest research knowledge by arranging exploratory workshops. It also organizes open for public -conferences with highly distinguished international keynote speakers, which will be arranged in Gothenburg, Sweden, Helsinki, Finland and Oslo, Norway. The core topics of the research network will concern timely issues around digitalizing childhoods, such as inequalities and opportunities of digital technologies and media for children’s learning and education, civic engagement, social life and leisure, the impact of digitalisation on children’s physical and mental wellbeing and health as well as safety, security and privacy and research methods and ethics to study childhood in the digital age. The project is carried out from January 2019 to August 2020 with research partners from University of Southern Denmark, University of Oslo, University of Gothenburg and University of Island. The project funding is 405,000 kr.
