The preparedness to carry out foodborne outbreak investigations of local food control authorities is imperative when preventing outbreaks and minimizing the damage to individuals and society. The local food control units participated in an intercalibration, first of a kind, to measure the preparedness of outbreak investigation. This project is led by EnviroVet Public Health Professionals and carried out together with the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare (THL), Finnish Food Authority and University of Helsinki.
The project will continue in 2022 with focus on the local food control units’ preparedness to manage Listeria monocytogenes risks in food processing.
