GATA transcription factors in developmental and tumor biology

Normal growth, development and function of all tissues requires precise control of gene regulation. Transcription factors are proteins responsible for gene regulation through their specific binding to gene promoter and enhancer sites. Aberrations in transcription factors have been implicated in a variety of human diseases including developmental disorders and cancer.

Our research group focuses on assessing the role of GATA transcription factors in development and disease. The ultimate aim is the deeper understanding of biological processes underlying developmental disorders and cancer, potentially improving diagnostics and developing new treatment strategies for variety of developmental disorders and cancer. In addition, undergraduate, postgraduate and postdoctoral training is one of the central goals of our research group.
