Cellular Genetics of Disease

The Kilpinen group is interested in the cellular basis and disease mechanisms of neurodevelopmental disorders and other brain-related traits. We use human induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC)-derived neuronal models and high-throughput profiling of single cells to study how genetic variation affects the phenotypes of disease-relevant cell types and contributes to differential susceptibility to diseases. The group is part of the Helsinki Institute of Life Science (HiLIFE), Faculty of Medicine, Institute for Molecular Medicine Finland (FIMM) and the Neuroscience Center.
