Ectomycorrhizal fungi are important companions for trees as they help trees to get water and nutrient resources for growth. We have studied in a greenhouse experiment how different common ectomycorrhizal fungi species, and three soil inoculums collected from Hyytiälä research station affect pine seedlings' water use and growth under drought stress and their recovery from the drought stress. We found interesting results that point to an effect than depend on the ectomycorrhizal fungi species.
