FuturEducation II - Reimagining the Future of Education is an open international lecture series meant for everyone interested in deepening their knowledge about the future trajectories of education, reimagining the future of education and wanting to understand some of the most crucial questions of changing education governance that are shaping education, knowledge formations and questions related to inequalities within and beyond education. FuturEducation II is the follow-up for the successful lecture series FuturEducation at the fall 2021.
FuturEducation II provides a conceptual and more comprehensive understanding of expected and alternative future trajectories of education governance with eminent and internationally recognized speakers and provides essential knowledge for all stakeholders in the field of education. FuturEducation II is chaired by Professors Kristiina Brunila (AGORA) and Janne Varjo (KUPOLI) and coordinated by PhD researcher Kirsi Yliniva (kirsi.yliniva@helsinki.fi).
The lectures are open for everyone and do not require registration, excluding doctoral researchers who wish to complete FuturEducation as a course.
The lecture series consists of four guest lectures by renowned international lecturers in the fall 2022:
Friday September 30th at 10.15-11.45 (UTC +3): Dr Katariina Mertanen from University of Helsinki: ”A New Era of Education? Exploring the Future(s) of Education with the Lines of Precision Education Governance”
Tuesday October 11th at 14.15-15.45 (UTC + 3): Professor Fazal Rizvi from University of Melbourne and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign: “Thinking Creatively about Educational Futures” Note: Location ATHENA – 167 (Siltavuorenpenger 3 A, Helsinki, 1 floor, also in Zoom)
Thursday November 17th at 10.15-11.45 (UTC +2): Professor Bob Lingard from Australian Catholic University and The University of Queensland
Friday December 16th at 10.15-11.45 (UTC +2): Associate professor Nelli Piattoeva from the University of Tampere: ”Spectacular digitalization: exploring the role of digital education technologies in projecting and producing the future of the nation”
