The DataSupport at the University of Helsinki assists researchers in the management of research data. Researchers are offered tools, services, and training regarding the management, use, access to, and sharing of research data. Via DataSupport researchers can reach the data management specialists at the Helsinki University Library, IT Services, Central Archives, Research Affairs, Personnel Services, and Legal Affairs.
Support on research data management
Researchers are the experts on their own research data and the management of it. The DataSupport at the University of Helsinki helps researchers in planning how to manage their research data and offers training in research data management. The DataSupport specialists search together with the researcher or research group for the best solutions for managing the research data during its whole life cycle. However, the DataSupport is not responsible for managing the data nor does it give support regarding research methods.
The DataSupport network aims to find the right specialists to assist the researchers, be it questions about disk space for storage of data, data sharing, metadata, or legal matters. Researchers do not need to know which university services to contact. They only need to contact DataSupport.
