Diginord international workshop held in Norway

Diginord project has finished it’s second international meeting and workshop event.

The second international workshop of the Diginord project was organized in Norway, 31.8.2022-2.9.2022. Diginord project brings together researchers from Nordic countries to discuss and coordinate research on digitalization of work and older workers in Nordic countries. Our first international workshop was held in late 2021 at Helsinki. A third international workshop is planned to be held in Sweden in early 2023.

Our most recent workshop featured a writing retreat specially designed for writing papers to be submitted for our upcoming special issue along with an open seminar presenting the first results of ongoing research related to digitalization and its effects on older workers. The joint writing retreat was attended by Diginord Team members form University of Helsinki, Norwegian Social Research (NOVA) and Linköping University and project affiliates from the Humboldt Universität zu Berlin and University of Oulu. In addition, the workshop’s open seminar on Friday was remotely attended by international guests from several universities.

The seminar featured presentations from upcoming papers on digitalization and its effects on older workers. The discussed topics included the effects of computer use and computer training on longer working lives, older workers’ experiences related to adaption to Covid-19 pandemic at workplace and adaptions to transformative digitalization among older self-employed workers. In addition our project affiliate Zhen Im, a postdoctoral researcher at the Copenhagen Business School, gave a presentation on current theories and open research question related to digitalization, labour market participation and working lives of older workers.
