16.00 Conferment ceremony rehearsal and rector’s reception
A rehearsal of the conferment ceremony will take place in the University’s Great Hall (Main Building, Unioninkatu 34). The Master of Ceremonies will provide guidance on the progress of the following day’s events. Rehearsal participation is compulsory for all graduands. After the rehearsal, graduands (and their companions) are invited to a reception held by the rector at 18.00.
12.00 Conferment ceremony and conferment church service or secular ceremony
The conferment ceremony will take place in the University’s Great Hall (Main Building, Unioninkatu 34), beginning with a procession into the Great Hall. The ceremony lasts approximately two hours, depending on the number of graduands. The ceremony concludes in a procession leading to the church service or the secular ceremony. After these events, the procession will return to the University’s Main Building for coffee and refreshments.
19.00 Conferment gala dinner at the Old Student House (Mannerheimintie 3)
An invitation sent by the Faculty, as well as registration and payment of the dinner fee are required for the conferment dinner. Further information for graduands is available on the Registration page.
Excursion (cruise)
An excursion has been organised on behalf of the newly conferred doctoral and honorary doctoral degree holders, together with their companions, for the day after the conferment ceremony. Details will be provided at a later date.
