The course engages with some key concepts and approaches in the fields of feminist animal studies and critical animal studies. It also takes a critical look at anthropocentric paradigms in social sciences and humanities and considers how we can move beyond human-centric thinking, theoretically and methodologically. The course is targeted at MA students in gender studies at the University of Helsinki as well as other students interested in interdisciplinary and intersectional perspectives on gender, human-animal relations, food politics and sustainability.
