Dr. Mirkka Sarparanta receives the Jorma K. Miettinen Honorary Medal

Postdoctoral fellow Mirkka Sarparanta was awarded the Jorma K. Miettinen Honorary Medal for her contributions to the field of radiopharmaceutical chemistry in Finland

The Radiochemistry Division of the The Union of Professionals in Natural, Environmental and Forestry Sciences Loimu in Finland has awarded Dr. Mirkka Sarparanta, a postdoctoral fellow of the Tracers in Molecular Imaging Group, with the Jorma K. Miettinen Honorary Medal for her contributions to the field of radiopharmaceutical chemistry in Finland. The award committee especially highlighted the continuous support and mentorship of Dr. Sarparanta to postgraduate students and the inspiration she is to other early career researchers.

The medal honors the memory of Academician Jorma K. Miettinen (1921–2017), the first professor of Radiochemistry at the University of Helsinki. The medal received by Dr. Sarparanta is the 7th ever awarded. The award ceremony took place at the 50th anniversary celebration of the Radiochemistry Division on Monday, 16 April.
