At all of the public attractions of Luomus, travel photos for personal use can be taken with handheld cameras and phones. Please mention the location whenever publishing your photos.
In the outdoor gardens, you can organise small-scale photography sessions (photographer and up to four people to be photographed) of non-travel photos, such as wedding photos and portraits, without any additional fees and advance booking. However, other visitors who are in the area and any ongoing gardening must be taken into consideration when arranging the session. You can be on the lawns and paths, but you cannot touch the plants.

Sessions related to weddings, portraits, advertisements, products and productions are not permitted at the Natural History Museum and the greenhouses of Kaisaniemi Botanic Garden, with the exception of photography related to the natural sciences, the University of Helsinki and Luomus. Photography times must be agreed in advance by email tilat@luomus.fi no later than one week before the date of the session. In your message, please describe how the photography relates to the University’s operations or the natural sciences. Indicate the scope and duration of the production, as well as the desired date and location. As a rule, the aim is to schedule smaller sessions within and larger productions outside opening hours.
As a rule, photography for larger productions is not permitted in the public attractions of Luomus, with the exception of productions related to the natural sciences, the University of Helsinki or Luomus. As a rule, Luomus does not rent meeting or banquet facilities.
The organisers of events that support the University’s operations and research as well as the key stakeholders of Luomus can request facility rental opportunities by writing to tilat@luomus.fi. As a rule, events can be organised outside opening hours from Tuesday to Saturday.
Research groups, artists, photographers, authors, nature hobbyists and all other nature enthusiasts are invited to propose an exhibition for the exhibition spaces of the Natural History Museum and the Kaisaniemi and Kumpula Botanic Gardens. Applications are also accepted for exhibitions already in planning stages.
