A pioneer in open science and data

Research at the University of Helsinki is the most open of its kind in Finland. We are pioneers in both producing and using open data. We increasingly make our research results available to the society as a shared knowledge base. Our research helps us solve global challenges and produce a deeper understanding of the world around us.

In international university rankings, the University of Helsinki typically ranks among the top 100 universities in the world.  Rankings consistently place our university among the 20 best universities in Europe and as the best university in Finland. The University of Helsinki is internationally renowned for its high quality teaching, research and innovation.

IT consultation services provide innovative solutions to complex challenges

In addition to producing the university’s wide range of IT services, we tackle different IT challenges by e.g. providing consultation services when needed. Jyrki Reunamo, a Principal Investigator and Docent at the Faculty of Educational Studies explains how the IT Center’s consultation services have helped the development of early childhood education. Tiina Kosunen, Development Manager of International Affairs, sought out a software solution for helping international students beginning their studies at the University of Helsinki.
