The club's goal is to increase cooperation between China and Finland. University of Helsinki also hopes to grow the number of Chinese students coming to Finland. Also research cooperation between University of Helsinki and Chinese universities is a relevant interest. University of Helsinki has a good reputation among researchers in China but only very few students are familiar with the university.
– The primary and secondary school system of Finland are better know in China than higher education. Many students want to study in English speaking countries. The experiences and personal references of University of Helsinki graduates and exchange students help to promote the University of Helsinki reputation, tells the chairperson of the China Alumni Club, Li Ying.
Ying has self studied at the University of Helsinki and currently teaches Finnish language and culture in Beijing Foreign Studies university. Ying also is acting as the head of Finnish language and Culture faculty.
– University of Helsinki is a top university but as important fact is that it is located in Finland. Finnish culture is an important factor for students and researchers who apply to the university. Freedom of research, equality, respect of privacy and security are important for Chinese.
