It is designed and optimized to perform experiments on highly radioactive materials. Such instrument will be installed in the hot laboratory of Atalante facility of the CEA Marcoule in France. Coupled to the capability of the hot laboratory, this spectrometer is opening the opportunity to probe the local and electronic structure of e.g. spent nuclear fuel dissolution products and minor actinide compounds such as mixed oxide fuels. This unique facility will unlock our understanding of the actinide physico-chemistry and allow further characterization capabilities of highly radioactive nuclear fuels and related materials.
