INEQ's Inequality Talks continue and upcoming Spring 2021 events

Last autumn INEQ launched 'Inequality Talks', a series of online lectures addressing an extensive variety of issues relating to inequality. We are excited to announce that we will continue the online series also this spring.

The series will start off on the 18th of February with Dr Tine Buffel (University of Manchester), who will provide a critical review of some of the key questions and underlying assumptions that surround the participation of older people in research.

Due to the continuing pandemic, all the events this spring will be held online for participants, similarly to the previous term. Zoom links will be sent to registered participants and registration links can be found under each event description.

There are still a couple more talks planned. Keep an eye out for updates on upcoming guest talks on our website and Facebook page.

'Intersecting Inequalities' research seminar and other events

The INEQ research seminar for the Helsinki University based scholars, visitors and collaborators held biweekly on Thursdays from 12-14 will also continue to be held.

Spring 2021 seminars will start off with Associate Professor Hisayo Katsui (University of Helsinki) on the 4th of February. The seminar will introduce a new academic discipline, disability studies, established by the Finnish disability movement at the University of Helsinki. Katsui will also present an on-going research project entitled “Viitotut Muistot: kuuroihin ja viittomakieliseen yhteisöön kohdistuneet oikeudenloukkaukset" (in English - Signed Memories: Rights Violation against Deaf People and Sign Community).

More information and the program to the spring research seminar series can be found here.

Our program will be more complete in the upcoming weeks as we finalize last minor details. Make sure to follow our website and social media platforms, to stay up to date with upcoming research seminars, INEQ talks and other events.

We are looking forward to seeing you in our spring 2021 events. Feel free to join and welcome!
