Cutting edge infrastructures

Institute of Biotechnology has pioneered the development of Finland’s life science research infrastructures. The infrastructures are organized as shared core facilities, offering services to the academic community and industry.

The institute currently houses core facilities for sequencing & genomics, proteomics, biological imaging (both light and electron microscopy), structural biology (cryo-EM, protein crystallization and NMR), and bioinformatics. Many of the core facilities are a part of HiLIFE life science research infrastructure (LSRI) platforms and Biocenter Finland platforms that operate at a national level, in addition to ESFRIs operating at an international level.
