Can scientific research shape urban futures? Professor Ron Boschma holds the first keynote at UniverCities 2026 Conference

The first keynote speaker for UniverCities 2026 Conference has been confirmed!

Ron Boschma, Professor in Regional Economics at Utrecht University and Adjunct Professor in Innovation Studies at UiS School of Business and Law at University of Stavanger, will hold a keynote "Can scientific research shape urban futures? – The role of scientific capabilities to define diversification opportunities of regions" at the UniverCities 2026 Conference on 29.9.

Boschma's research focuses on evolutionary economic geography, regional resilience and diversification, and the geography of innovation. Clarivate's list has ranked him among the top 1% of cited researchers worldwide since 2014.

UniverCities 2026 Conference on University–City Relations and Collaboration will be held on 29–30 September at the University of Helsinki, Finland.

The call for papers is open and the submission deadline for abstracts is 1 June 2026. The registration will open soon.
