At the Department of Digital Humanities, the emphasis is on interdisciplinary computational humanities, taught also in different contexts. Computational humanities research is based on a mixed methods approach that combines research questions, for example, from book and intellectual history and methodologies derived from data science. Due to this requirement of interdisciplinarity, research is typically carried out as part of larger research groups in a project-based manner. Consequently, people participating in this field should primarily anchor their academic profile to one of the parent disciplines instead of trying to find an identity purely in the middle. This is reflected in our educational approach.
