Answers to common questions about SSD2023.

If I submitted an abstract, when will I find out if it is accepted?: We anticipate answers on abstract acceptance by mid-March.

Where will the conference take place?: The conference will be held in-person at University of Helsinki Centre Campus. A limited number of sessions will be held in hybrid mode on Zoom. Here is a link to more information about the physical conference locations.

What time zone are the sessions in the program?: All times indicated in the program, on conference website, and in communications about the conference are in Helsinki time which is UTC+3. Here is a time zone converter if you want to see what Helsinki time (UTC+3) is in your time zone.

What hashtag should I use when posting about the conference on social media?: When communicating about the event on social media, please use the hashtag #SSD2023, on Twitter please tag @ssd_conf

When and how do I register?: Registration will open in March 2023. We will use an online registration form. We will put a link to the registration on the conference webpage and add a link here. 

Are there fees for registration/participation?: Yes, there is a fee for in-person participation in the conference for all participants, including conveners, presenters, panelists, and the general audience. Please visit this page for more detailed information about the participation fees.

Who can I contact with questions about my abstract, session, or the conference program?: Any questions about your abstract, working group, or the conference program (that cannot be found from this website) can be directed to the SSD2023 Local Organizing Committee at ssd-conference@helsinki.fi.

Who can I contact with questions about registration?: Any questions about registration (that cannot be found from this website) can be directed to Confedent Conference Service at ssd2023@confedent.fi

How do I get the Zoom links for the hybrid sessions?: The Zoom links will all be in a digital conference lobby. This will be sent to all registered participants via the e-mail they used to register by May 19. If you have not received this message, please let us know via e-mail at ssd-conf@helsinki.fi. Please remember to check your spam folder before messaging.

Will the sessions be recorded?: Partially, we are planning to record all plenary and limited parallel sessions of the conference. It is anticipated that these will be available on the conference lobby and via our YouTube channel (link forthcoming) within a week of the conference.

Are there any travel awards/stipends available?: At this time SSD2023 does not have funds to support participants travel/accommodation. If this situation changes, we will share an update. 

Does SSD2023 offer any registration waivers to help me attend the Conference?: As a general rule SSD2023 cannot waive registration fees.

Can I cancel my registration and get a refund?: Registration is binding and there are no refunds for canceled registration.

How do I get a letter of invitation?: You must complete the conference registration and there is a place in the registration to indicate you need an invitation letter. Confedent Conference Services will generate your letter of invitation once they have received your payment. Link to registration forthcoming when registration opens in March 2023.

Who do I contact about technical difficulties during the conference?: If you experience technical difficulties during the conference, please contact us via e-mail at ssd-conf@helsinki.fi and we will try our best to assist you.
