In September, Science for Sustainability will bring together science, innovation and change makers from diverse fields.
The theme for the event is Bursting the Sustainability Bubble which aims to challenge sustainability myths and break down the barriers between disciplines and industries. The goal: to find solutions that pace up the sustainability transition.
Science for Sustainability is a joint collaborative effort between Finland’s two largest universities, the University of Helsinki, and Aalto University. The event will be held in the Helsinki region 30.9.-2.10.2025.
Collaboration in focus at the event
The event is undergoing changes not only in its name but also in its content. Formerly known as Sustainability Science Days, the event is now being renamed Science for Sustainability.
The event doesn't want to limit itself to just being focused on sustainability sciences, as the old name implied. The goal is to bring science and research closer to other societal changemakers, including businesses, cities, and communities. Science for Sustainability aims to accelerate society's sustainability transformation in collaboration with others.
Over the course of two days, 1.-2.10. the event will focus on sustainability-related research and bursting sustainability bubbles within different fields. Tickets for the conference can be bought here.
The first day of the event 30.9. will connect the key businesses and organisations in green transition with top researchers in relevant fields through a facilitated collaboration process that begins during spring 2025. The event aims to accelerate the green transition and to improve Finland’s competitiveness by bringing research closer to businesses.
Please note that 30.9. is invitation-only. If your business or organisation is interested to hear more about the participation, feel free to contact us at ssd-conference@helsinki.fi.
