‘Key Considerations for Religious Literacy in Action’

is the Co-Founder and Executive Director of the . She has published extensively on religious literacy and its implications and led numerous projects and initiatives, including the ‘Civic Literacy Youth Network,’ now revised as the . Chan’s keynote will address key considerations for religious literacy in action drawing upon her vast expertise in research, non-profits, and education.   

Titus Hjelm

‘Does Religious Literacy Work? Testing Key Claims in the Field’ 

is Professor in the Study of Religion at the University of Helsinki and the leader of the ‘RELIACT – Religious Literacy in Action’ project. Previously, he was Reader in Sociology at University College London. Hjelm’s research has examined religion and social change, religion and politics, and social theory. He is the Editor in Chief of Sociology of Religion and Vice President of International Sociological Association’s RC22 Sociology of Religion group. Hjelm’s keynote will present findings from the RELIACT project, testing key claims in the religious literacy literature, with a focus on the question ‘does religious literacy work’? The keynote will also outline directions for future research.
