The total registration fee covers:  

• PME membership for the year 2026 of EUR 50;
• a compulsory Skemp Fund donation of at least EUR 10;
• access to an electronic version of the proceedings;
• 4 lunches and 7 coffee breaks;
• opening reception;
• participation in one of the conference excursions;
• conference dinner; and
• the costs of venue, administrative work, and facilities needed for the organization of the conference.

Membership or Pre-registration Paid This Spring
If you have completed the IGPME membership fee payment through the University of Helsinki Conference system this Spring and you wish to participate in the PME49 Conference in Helsinki this July, you will receive personalized information on how to complete the full registration to the conference via e-mail.

New Membership
As a new member of IGPME:

1. Please create a new account in the and register yourself in the system.
2. You will need to provide your personal information during this process.
3. After filling in the required information, you will be able to register using the link on the Registration page.
4. You need to provide your ConfTool ID number on the conference registration form.

The non-refundable conference deposit is EUR 110 if you choose to contribute EUR 30 to the Skemp Fund or EUR 80 or if you choose to contribute EUR 10, the minimum donation amount. For those who attend the conference, the equivalent to EUR 80 will be deducted from the total conference registration fee.  

The conference deposit covers  

• PME memberships for the year 2026 of EUR 50;
• a compulsory Skemp Fund donation of at least EUR 10;
• access to electronic conference proceedings; and
• administrative costs related to the handling of the proposals.

We welcome accompanying people. Accompanying people participate in the social program but not in the scientific program of the conference. The fee for accompanying people is expected to be around the equivalent of EUR 150 per person depending on the anticipated number of participants. The exact amount will be decided by the International Program Committee in April 2026. Registration of accompanying people must be completed at the same time as full registration (see Important Dates).

The fee covers:  

• opening reception;
• participation in one of the conference excursions;
• conference dinner; and
• some of the administrative work involved outside of the scientific program. 

An additional charge of the equivalent of EUR 100 will be applied for registrations made after the registration deadline (see Important Dates). 

You can pay conference payments online (Visa, Mastercard or GooglePay) via registration system or via invoice. Please provide invoicing information upon registration. A billing surcharge is added to invoice payments. If you have any troubles, please contact the conference organizers .

Participation is not guaranteed until full payment of the registration fee is received.  

The conference program may be subject to changes based on decisions by the International Program Committee.

In the case of unforeseeable events, it is up to the International Program Committee and the International Committee of PME to decide on changes or even the cancellation of the conference and the amount of refund of payments. If the conference is cancelled, the remaining funds will be paid back to the participants and no further liability of the local organizers or PME will be accepted towards the client. 

For Registered Participants 

Participation in the conference is conditional upon registration and payment of all fees. All cancellations and changes regarding the conference registration must be made in written form by sending an email to . In all cases, the conference deposit will not be refunded; however, the deposit will cover one year of membership as well as access to the electronic conference proceedings.  

If a cancellation for conference participation is made after the full registration fee has been paid:

• Before June 10, 2026, the refund will be the amount of the full registration fee except the conference deposit and the fees that the bank charges for transferring the refund. For cancellations made by or on 10 June 2026, the refund will be the amount of the full registration fee (excluding 110 eur which included your membership fee, handling charges and mandatory Skemp-donation).
• Cancellation after June 10, 2026 will be subject to the discretion of the Conference Chair on an individual basis. Primarily for cancellations made after 10 June 2026, no refunds will be made. 

For Accompanying People 

If a cancellation for accompanying person is made after the full registration fee has been paid:

• For cancellations made by or on 10 June 2026, refund of the full registration fee excluding bank charges.
• For cancellations made after 10 June 2026, no refunds will be made.

There will be no refund for no-shows. Denial of a visa application to Finland does not entitle a participant to any refunds. 

The conference organisers cannot accept liability for personal injuries sustained, for loss of, or damage to property belonging to participants (or their accompanying persons), either during or as a result of the conference. The registration fees do not include insurance of any kind so please check the validity and coverage of your own travel insurance. 

The organisers do not take responsibility for force majeure reasons for cancellation of the event (natural disaster, outbreak of severe contagious epidemic, major strikes etc.). In such a case, the organising committee reserves the right to decide about refunding of paid registration fees.

Pre-registration for PME49 has closed. 

All pre-registered participants will receive a personal link via email by Wednesday, April 15th. This link will allow you to confirm your participation in the PME49 Conference in Helsinki, if you decide to attend. 

Please note that the pre-registration fee is non-refundable, even if you choose not to participate in the conference.
