How to get to the kumpula Campus

How to get to the Kumpula campus?

Find the best route with    (You are coming to Physicum, Gustaf Hällströmin katu 2.) Travel time is approx. 20-25 minutes from the Helsinki city center.

You can also (A walk of about 25 minutes and 2 kilometers across a park area.) Tram line 13 also runs from Pasila Station to next to the campus (about 20 minutes).

 

 

Conference venue

The conference will be held at the University of Helsinki Kumpula Campus in Physicum and Exactum buildings. Info and registration is in Physicum lobby (number 1 on map) with nearby luggage room, quite space and work room (number 7). On Thursday key note presentations (2) and parallel sessions (4) are in Exactum -building. Evening gala will be in Physicum atrium (5). Lunches are served in Chemicum (3). Parallel session on Friday are in Physicum (second floor, number 6). 

 

Lunches and luggage room

The regular participation fee for Geography Days includes two coffees and two lunches. Special dietary requirements indicated on the registration form will be accommodated during lunch. With Buffet lunch coupons can can take all main dishes and coffee from the Chemicum Unicafe lunch-buffet  Lunch menus are on the left – Thursday’s menu is above, and Friday’s is below.

The evening party includes a buffet dinner. Special dietary requirements indicated on the registration form will be accommodated in the catering. The student fee does not include lunch. We recommend dining at the campus Unicafe restaurants. On campus, there is the Unicafe Physicum café, which offers, among other things, baguettes, paninis, and excellent vegan cinnamon rolls. The nearest grocery stores and restaurants can be found at the Arabia shopping center.

There are unattended coat racks for outerwear on campus. Please note that during the evening party, only Physicum will be open, so do not leave your clothes or belongings in other buildings! Geography Days offers participants a free supervised luggage room. The luggage room is available during both the conference and the evening party but is not open overnight.

 

Internet access

During the event, you can use wireless internet connections via either HelsinkiUni Guest or eduroam.

Eduroam is an international wireless network for staff, students, and members of institutions within the eduroam network. Log in using your home university credentials in the format: (e.g. )

The guest network appears as HelsinkiUni Guest – the password is uniguest. Accept the terms of use by clicking Accept / Hyväksy / Godkänn.

Conference spaces

The keynote lectures will take place in large tiered lecture halls Exactum A111 and B123, both equipped with microphones and sound systems.
Session rooms Exactum CK112, Physicum E204, and D101 are also large tiered lecture halls with microphones and sound systems available.
Session rooms Exactum C222, CK107, and Physicum E205 are flat-floor classrooms with desks. These rooms do not have microphones.

During the event, a quiet room will be available for those who wish to take a break from the noise of the event and the campus. The quiet room is located in the Geography meeting room, Physicum A115.
For working, remote meetings, and similar needs, you are welcome to use classroom Physicum A111–A112. Please hold your meetings and calls there!
In addition, the Kumpula Campus Library offers a variety of study and workspaces, and there are also numerous table groups and sofas available throughout the campus.
A prayer and meditation room is available in Chemicum, room B145 (1st floor).
