The Centre for Consumer Society Research (CCSR) operates as part of the University of Helsinki as a multidisciplinary unit that masses consumer research nationwide. The mission of the Centre is to study multidisciplinary phenomena related to consumption and consumer behaviour and their impact on consumers' lives, to contribute to basic education and national research training in the field, and to develop the societal impact of consumer research.
As a unique research unit in Europe and in Finland, the Centre provides up-to-date multidisciplinary knowledge based on research traditions in the social sciences for understanding changes and continuities in the market and the consumer society.
The Centre is a key national research operator in its field and engages in extensive research cooperation with Finnish and international universities. The Centre develops the national scientific community by supporting a scientific association (Finnish Association of Consumer Research), organising seminars in the field and producing publications, lectures and events for the general public.
