The school admission area for grades 7–9 comprises the school admission areas of the Snellman and Tehtaankatu primary schools. If a pupil lives and is registered at an address in the aforementioned area all through secondary school, their local school is the Helsinki Normal Lyceum.
Pupils for the Latin class are admitted based on an aptitude test. The test is an examination in the pupil’s native language. Pupils in city of Helsinki's schools enroll via Wilma, pupils of other cities or schools enroll via en electronic form (Lomakkeet >Perusopetus > Kuudesluokkalaiset > Ulkopaikkakuntalaisten ilmoittautumislomake soveltuvuuskokeeseen, in Finnish), which must be submitted to the office of the Helsinki Normal Lyceum’s comprehensive school by email (lotta.sjoblom(at)helsinki.fi) or by mail (Helsingin normaalilyseo, Sihteerit, PL 38, 00014 Helsingin yliopisto) by Friday, January 13th 2023.
The test takes place in the assembly hall of the Helsinki Normal Lyceum (Ratakatu 6 B, 00120 Helsinki, assembly hall B318) on Thursday, January 19th 2023 from 12.00 to 15.00. No separate invitation for the test was sent. Only the score from the aptitude test will play a role in the admission to the Latin class.
All admission decisions will be mailed to pupils' homes by the end of March.
We will accept pupils only from our school admission area for grades 8 and 9. School admission areas are displayed in Helsinki's map services: Palvelukartta (in Finnish).
