Research Illustrated – An exhibition of Yliopisto magazine illustrations

Finland’s best illustrators have graced Yliopisto magazine with their work throughout the 2000s. They have shared their takes on both scholarly news and public discourse, with researchers providing background in the articles. Explore the Research Illustrated exhibition at Think Corner from 22 January.

The most impressive illustrations from Yliopisto will be displayed at Think Corner from 22 January to the end of April. 

The exhibition features works by 12 artists from 2015 to 2024. The topics of their works range from refugees trying to reach Europe to self-driving cars, and from the history of Finland’s policy on Russia to sex.  

The  prints 10 issues a year, each one including illustrators’ interpretations of the themes it explores. The University of Helsinki has published the magazine for more than 70 years, and illustrators have counted among its creators for over 35 years. 

The Research Illustrated exhibition will be on display at Think Corner from 22 January to 30 April 2025 within the . The exhibition is free of charge.

The Research Illustrated exhibition is also part of the Night of Science programme and opens on Thursday, 22 January, on the Night of Science.
