Angelina Lesnikova, PhD has joined the lab as a postdoctoral researcher

January 2022. The Balisteri lab welcomes a new member, Angelina Lesnikova, to join the lab in 2022.

Angelina received her PhD in 2021 at the Neuroscience Center, University of Helsinki. During her PhD, Angelina investigated molecular and cellular mechanisms of neuronal plasticity with a focus on plasticity induced by drugs and genetic manipulations. Angelina has expertise in various in vitro and in vivo models and behavioral experiments in rodents.

At the Balistreri lab, Angelina will study how viruses enter the brain, and how the virus entry can be blocked using pharmacological methods. Her first project is focused on SARS-CoV-2 entry into the brain cells as part of our common endeavor to stop the pandemic.
