VITRI's Prof. Markku Kanninen and Forestry and Vasa Kaarakka -Senior Adviser for Development Policy at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs- participated in the Ylen Aamu-tv program on August 28 to discuss the ongoing forest fires in Brazil as well international efforts to address climate change. Other topics discussed during the interview were desertification, land tenure problems in tropical regions, other drivers of deforestation as well as the responsibilities of Finland related to international agreements such as international conventions.
