Sonja's piece asks, "How is climate change affecting ecological processes and ways of life in mangrove ecosystems? What interests shape forest restoration efforts, and who remains most affected?" Check out Sonja's piece, titled "On trees, water, and climate: thesis diaries from Madagascar"on page 13.
Ville tells about the "couch-diving and -surfing among mangroves" that he has done in pursuit of doing his master's studies. He tells about how mangroves are "a remarkable tree species but also an allegory for a portal of transcendence between land and ocean, the natural and social." In the pieces he "discuss[es] the moving bodies of water and wind, powered by the warming climate, as they roar westward from the Indian Ocean, meet the mangroves of the Mozambican coastline and morph into socio-ecological phenomena and devastation." Check out Ville's contribution, titled "Waves loaded with concepts, powered by combustion" on page 31.
