RADIA Webinar - Radicalisation monitoring for policy and practice

RADIA is hosting a webinar introducing MOTRA, an innovative German system for monitoring radicalisation trends. We also discuss possibilities for its internationalisation and transferability to other contexts.
Radicalisation monitoring for policy and practice

Maintaining a well-founded and up-to-date understanding of radicalisation trends is vital for evidence-based policy and practice in P/CVE. But how to do it?  One solution could be MOTRA, Germany’s comprehensive and innovative system for monitoring radicalisation trends, combining social media analysis, surveys, protest monitoring, and crime data. It offers a multidimensional view of radicalisation dynamics and provides actionable insights for preventing and countering violent extremism (P/CVE). This webinar introduces the MOTRA approach to international P/CVE experts and discusses possibilities for its internationalisation and transferability to other contexts.

Learning about MOTRA’s approach might be interesting for

  • policymakers: Provides data-driven insights for governments and security agencies to design targeted prevention strategies

  • practitioners: Detects radicalisation trends across discourse, attitudes, and behavior; identifies high-risk regions and groups, allowing focused allocation of prevention resources
  • researchers: Offers a unique multi-level monitoring framework combining surveys, social media analysis, protest data, and crime statistics, enabling longitudinal studies, theory testing, and comparative international research

Speaker: Professor Uwe Kemmesies, MOTRA Coordinator

Q & A facilitated by RADIA (there is a possibility for participants to ask questions)

Date & Time: To be confirmed in February, location: Zoom
