About

‏‏‎ ‎

RADIA supports the development of prevention and countering violent extremism and radicalisation in Finland by facilitating the knowledge interaction between researchers, policymakers and practitioners, organising capacity building activities, and promoting international cooperation. It also supports the evaluation in this field. While RADIA is an independent knowledge centre, many of its activities support the measures mentioned in the national action plan.

Objectives

RADIA'S work focuses around three main objectives

RADIA produces literature reviews that compile the latest findings from studies on violent radicalization and extremism, as well as their prevention. It also creates thematic reviews on current developments, trends, and phenomena, with topics agreed upon in collaboration with our advisory board. Upon request, RADIA can also produce research-based insights on themes central to situational reports on violent extremism.

RADIA supports organizations working on the prevention of violent radicalization and extremism by helping them identify relevant studies. The center can also assist in preparing the next action plan by mapping research-based knowledge on various themes related to P/CVE (Preventing/Countering Violent Extremism).

RADIA supports the capacity building of experts and practitioners involved in preventing and countering violent radicalization and extremism across various administrative sectors in Finland. Based on research-based knowledge and sector-specific needs and resources, RADIA develops training plans and materials, as well as provides support for organising and facilitating the trainings.

RADIA coordinates a network or P/CVE specialists from different sectors, supporting the continuous development of their expertise and multi-agency collaboration.

The Knowledge Centre also organises seminars on topical themes and strengthens international cooperation by connecting with foreign knowledge centers and universities, promoting knowledge sharing.

RADIA pilots the evaluation of the 2024–2027 action plan measures in accordance with the evaluation plan developed by the centre. It also supports the use of the evaluation results in the further development of the action plan.

RADIA provides trainings on evaluation for the actors involved in the evaluation of P/CVE measures.
