RADIA Seminar: Gender, Misogyny and Extremism

RADIA hosts a seminar examining the growing intersections between gender, misogyny, and extremism. The programme includes a keynote by Dr. Elizabeth Pearson and presentations by Docent Katarina Pettersson and Academy Research Fellow Sanna Tirkkonen.
Gender, Misogyny and Extremism

The link between gender and extremism is increasingly discussed by academics, practitioners, policy makers, politicians, and the media alike. Manosphere content especially has become a concern for preventing and countering radicalisation, but other extremist movements are also connected through similar, masculinist and misogynistic narratives. How can current research help us understand this phenomenon? In this seminar, featuring Dr. Elizabeth Pearson (Royal Holloway, University of London) as a keynote speaker, the topics of misogynistic extremism, masculinity, and gender are explored from interdisciplinary perspectives.

Following Elizabeth’s keynote, we will hear presentations from Docent Katarina Pettersson and Academy Research Fellow Sanna Tirkkonen, both from the University of Helsinki.

Time and place:

Monday 27th of April from 10am to 12pm at the University main building, room F3017
