The goal of our lab is to understand the dynamics of the tumor microenvironment using systems oncology approaches. A key event in tumor progression is the establishment of an immunosuppressive microenvironment that prevents the immune system from recognizing and attacking the tumor cells. Using single-cell imaging, advanced computational analyses, and functional assays in tumor organoids, we aim to shed light into the dynamic immune-regulatory networks in the tumor microenvironment. We focus on the goal of developing prognostic and predictive biomarkers, and new therapeutic approaches to improve the treatment and survival of cancer patients.
