Plant Environmental Signalling

Deciphering Molecular Mechanisms of Stomatal Function

Our research group studies stomatal function at a molecular level to uncover mechanisms by which guard cells sense and respond to environmental changes. We also investigate the molecular components that connect stomatal function with the regulation of water movement in the vasculature. Our research expands to the study of plant stress perception and signalling, including both abiotic and biotic factors.

Research Environment

Our group belongs to the Research Council of Finland-funded Centre of Excellence in Tree Biology (2022-2029). We are members of the Viikki Plant Science Centre (ViPS) that brings together 53 plant biology research groups of the University of Helsinki. We function within the Organismal and Evolutionary Biology Research Programme (OEB) of the Faculty of Biological and Environmental Sciences.
