Young Scientist Award for Excellence in Drug Research 2025 to Teemu Tomberg

Group member Teemu Tomberg awarded for Excellence in Drug Research in his postdoctoral work on stimulated Raman scattering microscopy.

The Faculty of Pharmacy annual Young Scientist Award for Excellence in Drug Research was awarded to group member Teemu Tomberg among two other researchers at the faculty. Dr. Teemu Tomberg’s postdoctoral research work at the Faculty of Pharmacy has transformed analytical opportunities in diverse applications for numerous researchers across various groups, especially within the faculty. His work has focused on developing label-free stimulated Raman microscopy, which is entirely new to Finland and the Nordics, coupled with bespoke data analytics development from the ground up. Teemu’s contributions have been recognized through several invited lectures and presentations, and the on the platform he has developed received the “Spotlight on Optics” highlight from the journal. Teemu currently leads the operational and developmental aspects of Molecular Spectroscopy for Life Sciences  ().
