We aim to understand and optimise pharmaceutical performance through innovative spectroscopy and imaging solutions. We have a strong focus on advancing various forms of vibrational spectroscopy, mass spectrometry and imaging to understand the (supra)molecular basis of drug behaviour. We probe different stages of the life of a drug, from preformulation, to formulation, manufacturing, drug delivery, and ultimately, drug action in the body. Finally, we use this knowledge to optimise pharmaceutical performance, particularly in relation to poorly soluble drugs. We collaborate with universities and companies in Finland and abroad, and participate in and lead several national and international research consortia.
